Update 2

New spy pictures. Korean media still confused about the engine selection, as some prototypes were spotted with the 2.5 and other with the 3.3, they’re not sure if will change only the 2.0 and keep the 3.3 or what. Stay tuned for more soon.

At the end, looks like Kia will put all their efforts on the overseas Stinger model, mainly US-spec and UAE models to offer there, where is much appreciatted, the new engines and keep the regular engines where the sales are slow. This is what our friends at AutoPost told us in our latest conversation, while the only test vehicle with the 2.5 Turbo engine spotted is confirmed to be an US-spec (pictured below).

Looks like the Australian model, which is a right hand drive, will suffer the same luck as the korean counterparts. As the development of right hand drive’s cars are more expensive, they can continue with the current engines, this was reported recently by Australian motor news.

What we know so far?

Speaking with the magazine, the Kia Official said: The release of the second-generation Stinger has not been decided yet. We plan to focus on preparing for the partial change model launch in the second half of this year. So in this statement we have got the confirmation of the launch, that is already scheduled for July and the conclusion of sales of the facelifted Stinger will decide the fate of the RWD sports sedan.

The Stinger discontinuation is not only groundless at all, but also ridiculous fake news. “In July this year, along with the new car class change, there will be a partial change model with more powerful performance.” he added.

As Stinger is deteriorating Kia Motors’ profitability due to sluggish sales, it is being delivered to Korea, citing speculative articles that Kia Motors is reviewing discontinuation, as it is burdensome to develop a replacement model or a model that requires a huge investment. The Stinger is a model that consistently sells around 1,000 units per month in the North American market, he said.

It is a model that greatly contributes to raising Kia’s brand image to ‘high performance and sporty’ above the volume. “Stinger is a sports sedan based on rear-wheel drive (FR) and is a model that imprints Kia’s high-performance image at home and abroad.”

The partial change model that will appear in July is expected to have a stronger heart for new car changes. The inline 4-cylinder 2.0L gasoline Turbo engine increases the displacement to 2.5L, so the performance specifications are expected to change. The 2.5-liter Turbo mounted on Hyundai’s high-performance division N-line has a maximum output of 290 horsepower (304 hp in Genesis models).

Kia Motors plans to further refine Stinger’s driving system to differentiate it from Hyundai’s N-line, and to improve the current acceleration of 4.9 seconds (0 – 100 km/h). However, another official said, The end of story is absurd, but the release schedule of the second-generation Stinger may change. We need to focus on the model that strategically sells well compare to the cost of developing a new car after Coronavirus outbreak, he said.

Hyundai Tucson Shows Floating Type Instrument Cluster

Hyundai Tucson Shows Floating Type Instrument Cluster

Today we want to share with you the very first interior picture of the 4th generation Hyundai Tucson SUV, codenamed as NX4, where the biggest surprise is a Mercedes-inspired floating tablet for the instrument cluster while the rest of the dashboard kept a traditional style but with a big screen (I think is bigger than 10,25″ inch which is the usual at Hyundai right now) and touch-type buttons all over it.

What we know so far?

Thanks to the Vision T prototype unveiled at Los Angeles AutoShow on November last year, now we get a better idea of what the Next-gen Tucson looks like after Hyundai confirmed this SUV concept envisions what the 4th generation Tucson will look.

Instead of a Hyundai Palisade inspiration, the new Tucson will premiere a new design language inside SUVs for Hyundai. We still find the turn signal and the DRL on at the top and the bottom its reserved for a single projector with possibly more decorative lights, but in a smaller dimension. The headlight is also smaller but with more sharp lines and its not an horizontal rectangle like the Palisade. Though what it still like the Palisade is the front vents next to the headlights. Its hard to tell but the turn signals also seem to have a vent next to it.

The Front grille has a different design than its bigger sibling, and it will be a complete new design we haven’t seen before (despite the Vision T concept SUV). Right at the bottom we now find this smaller and much wider lower grill. We can only guess the final design but it’ll be a much more aggressive design compare to its current generation, hopefully soon we’ll receive some renders.

We were a little bit surprised due to the Tucson is not following the latest design identity of Hyundai’s interiors, today we noticed we were in front of the Hybrid variant of the new Tucson, and on the picture above you have the prove in the tachometer. Looks like the infotainment is included on the dashboard instead of being a floating tablet system. We found the same steering wheel premiered on the Sonata and used also in the new Elantra. This version could be the base one as had a traditional cluster which is very similar to the included on Kia’s Niro.

The next generation Tucson is set to have the all-new Theta3 2.5-liter engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai plans to use the Theta3 N/A & Turbo 2.5-lite engine as its base engine in the US market. Should debut in April, according to the latest reports from South Korea, including a Hybrid powertrain for the first time (currently only has Mild-hybrid).

Hyundai Motor and its affiliates are in the process of updating the lines and supply lines of the Alabama plant, as the company has decided to produce Hyundai’s next generation Tucson (codenamed NX4) in 2020. Tucson will also expanding its line-up into pickup trucks and will be offer a pick-up derivative from 2021, the Santa Cruz.

More than the 60 percent of the US auto market sales have chose a SUV, so that it’s why they will be producing the Tucson at its Alabama plant instead of the anticipated sales of Elantra and Sonata are decreasing. Currently, the Alabama plant produces only three models – the Santa Fe, the Sonata, and the Elantra (Korean name: Avante).
